Methods with Dealing with Panic Attacks
Dealing with panic attacks is not easy but it can be done.
At time it comes from no where and blindsides us or it may creep up on us as we fret over some relationship in our life. Many of us need ways for dealing with panic attacks.
We are going to look at what to do about both. Panic and anxiety is something I have live with since I was 4 and later in life I had PTSD from doing front line work. What I am writing here is not clinical advice it is life experience. Please feel free to call me if you need some help with this as it is not an easy fix.
When Panic blindsides us we need to remind ourselves this is not our fault. If we have been there before we need to tell ourselves this is Panic pushing my button not a heart or asthma attack. People used to tell me to deep breath and I would say to myself, “ya right”. But it does work. It calms the parasympathetic nervous system. Simply breath in deeply for the count of 4 and out with pursed lips to the count of 10. Tell yourself this is my button being pushed it has been pushed before and I survived!
Dealing with panic attacks that creep up are somewhat different. Say we are going to a meeting and we are worried we will be late. We need a Panic Prevention Plan. Do we have a GPS? Have we left early enough? Can we call the people going to the meeting and tell them traffic is bad? Plans Prevent Panic!
